Just firing it into the air (which produces a bright electrical spark and an ominous crackling sound) is enough to warn any sane person to stay away. Many of the stun guns use rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries have advantages, but take hours to recharge and only last through so many cycles before they die rendering the stun gun useless. Replaceable 9 volt batteries can offer higher amperage and can be refreshed in a few seconds. You can also use rechargeable 9 volt batteries if you prefer. You can carry spares in your pocket for backup. This stun gun is a self defense device which disrupts the message the brain sends to the voluntary muscles. Simply touching an attacker with a stun gun for three to five seconds will deliver a high voltage shock causing loss of balance and muscle control, confusion, and disorientation bringing him to his knees and making him incapable of further aggressive activity. Full recovery takes about five to ten minutes and there is no permanent harm. Often just firing it into the air will cause aggressors to back off and leave you alone. Safety Switch: to prevent accidental discharge. The safety switch must be in the on position, and the trigger pressed down before the stun gun will operate. You may have seen other vendors selling stun guns with higher voltages. It is our opinion that this reduces the amperage and that limits the stopping power. Having a certain amount of high voltage like 200,000v is good in order for the spark to penetrate clothing - so you want that - but go too high and the amperage becomes lower and the assailant may not be stopped completely; just irritated enough to attack you with greater vengeance.
